To achieve a modern contemporary country residence for a young family through a practical simplicity in function and experience. This simplicity is to be reflected in the construction in order to achieve a project home budget. The design must take advantage of the great views across the hills outside of Bathurst and promote a sense of connection to the landscape and blend into its surroundings through form and materials.
The rationale of this design concept was driven by a literal interpretation of the brief, created as a series of spaces simply grouped together, allowing each one to have a direct connection with the surrounding environment. These spaces then progressively develop a character depending on the location, orientation and use.
