This Aged Care Facility is in a process of renewal, rediscovery of the old and clarification of the existing. At the heart of this aged care renewal project is the need to secure the `spirit’ and `community’ that exists between residents and carers whilst unravelling 40 years of modification to three previously unrelated buildings.

The outcome is the celebration of historic and existing communal elements interweaved with new living, sleeping and circulation spaces, providing clarity to public and private, creating a dignified place to call home and nurturing the embodied spirit of community that currently unifies the three disparate building forms.

Externally, a new streetscape is created with simple residential elements allowing each building its own identity in addition to creating a dialogue of harmony to reflect the internal unification.
